New Research Uncovers Social Media Leading Trends and Best Practices

Social media strategies, tools, and processes being used by today's services organizations revealed at Technology Services World.

LAS VEGAS, NV, AND SANTA CLARA, CA, October 24, 2011 — The Technology Services Industry Association (TSIA) today released results from its 2011—2012 Social Media Survey. Now in its third year, the survey leveraged data collected from member inquiries, the TSIA Social Media Community of Interest, as well as primary and secondary research.

With more than 700 responses, the survey collected data on channel adoption, operational best practices, attracting participation, integration with corporate infrastructure and processes, ROI, and building an effective social media strategy.

Shawn Santos, TSIA's social media research lead and director of programs and community, presented the survey results at Technology Services World (TSW) 2011 Las Vegas.

Says Santos, "When it comes to social media, everyone is either using it, raving about it, or complaining about it, but nobody can ignore it. It has fundamentally changed the way business is conducted, services are delivered, and technology investments are made, and it's bigger than ever and still growing."

The research findings and the supporting case studies presented at TSW combined to dismantle the hype surrounding social media and revealed how technology companies are successfully leveraging it in services in the real world.
